Indian Government to setup National Cyber Coordination Centre to Scan Tweets, Status Updates & Emails.

National Cyber Coordination Centre

The government of India has decided to set up an internet scanning agency called National Cyber Coordination Centre(NCCC) to monitor all web traffic passing through internet service providers in the country.

The scanning agency will issue “actionable alerts” time to time in case of any security threats to all government departments.

The decision has been taken in a meeting held on February 3, 2012 , at the National Security Council Secretariat under the Prime Minister Office.

The NCCC will scan whole web traffic with the help of all Internet Service providers. The project will cost Rs. 800
crore in the set-up.

At present, web traffic is monitored by Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DoT) with the help of equipments installed at the premises of ISPs & gateways.

Now, all your facebook status updates, tweets, messages, emails, & even email drafts will now pass through the new scanning centre.

The centre can even probe further into any email account or social media account if they finds a perceived threat.

Are we heading towards American Style of dealing with social networks where even funny status updates or tweets are objectionable and questionable sometimes.

Flipkart Music Store, ‘Flyte’ Live Now [ Songs starting at Rs. 6 ]

flipkart music flyte

Flipkart has finally gone live with their Music store, Flyte today.

The songs are available in many languages and price starts at minimum of Rs 6 only. All the music is DRM free and can be synced on multiple devices.
DRM(Digital Rights Management)-free means that the MP3 songs you bought from Flipkart don’t contain any software that will restrict your usage of the file.
At the moment you can purchase only within the territory of India.

Before buying, there is also an option to listen to the 30-seconds clip of the song for free so that you can decide whether to buy it or not.
The songs can be downloaded in three qualities viz 320 kbps, 128 kbps and 64 kbps.

And you can legally download each song 3 times from Flipkart on any of your devices after purchasing.

Do give Flyte a try and let us know your thoughts.
Personally, I don’t think it will work in India when you can download songs easily free of cost.
Meanwhile, songs.pk is still functional at www.songspk.pk.

‘Do not track’ button In All browsers: Will it protect online privacy?

A number of web companies, including Mozilla, Google, Microsoft, & Apple, agreed to include a “Do Not Track” button in web browsers last week.

Started by Mozilla Firefox, the “Do Not Track” Button adds a field in the HTTP header of each web page you visit and instruct websites not to take information about you from your browser.
The “Do not Track” button will protect your data from advertisers to make targeted ads but the data can still be used for market research or product development.
Also social networks such as Facebook will not be affected by this development, & will still continue to track their members via the “like” button & other such activities on the website.

In the future, this development can make Internet content more expensive, since advertisements are what makes free or low-cost Internet content available to you.
Google Chrome have not added this feature as of now but the development is in the process. In the meantime, you can download “Keep My Opt-Outs” Extension in Google Chrome.

Enable “Do Not Button” Button on Firefox and Internet Explorer here.
Use “Keep My Opt-Outs” Extension in Google Chrome from here.
