The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation on Friday launched its first mobile app, “Child ID app”- an iPhone application which aims at helping parents to find missing kids.
The free FBI Child ID app provides a convenient place to electronically store photos & vital information about your child so that all the vital information will always be in your hand if anytime your child goes missing. You can also show the photos & provide physical identifiers such as height & weight to security or police officers on the spot.
Using a special tab on the app, you can also quickly and easily e-mail the information to authorities with a few clicks. The application alsoprovides tips on keeping children safe as well as specific guidelines on what to do in those first few hours after a child goes missing.
Talking about the app, the FBI says it does not collect or store any information that users store in the app. “All the data resides solely on your smart devices unless you need to send it to authorities,” it said.
The FBI has partnered with the American Football Coaches Association to publicize the availability of the app.
Presently, the app is only available for iPhones but FBI is planning to launch it in other mobile OS platforms also in the future.
