RIM sets up facility in Mumbai to help Indian Government in surveillance efforts

RIM (Research In Motion) has set up a facility in Mumbai to help the Indian Govt in lawful surveillance of its services.
India Govt can submit the name of a suspect they want to investigate, & Blackberry will provide decoded messages for that person if it satisfies the legal authorization.
Last year, Indian govt threatened to shut down BB encrypted email & instant messaging services because it could not be wiretap because of its encrypted form.

New Mobile Numbers Might Begin With 5,6 & 3

DoT forwarded a new proposal to issue new mobile numbers with digit 3, 5 and 6 that will free 2.75 billion mobile numbers. The initial proposal to issue 11 digit numbers has been put on hold for the moment.
The Telecom department(DoT) has also accepted the short-term solution from TRAI to issue nos in the 7 & 8 series that will free 650 million nos to meet the demands for next 2.5 years.

The ‘Twittad’ was the 1st company to claim the ownership of the term “Tweet” when it trademarked the phrase “Let Your Ad Meet Tweets”.

Apple wins lawsuit while in Australia

Apple has accused Samsung to use its patent Touch Screen Technology.

The two giant technological companies are engaged in a legal dispute in 9 countries across the world.

Apple has won a similar lawsuit in Germany also this year.

Samsung said that they are also planning to halt sales of iPhone 4S in Italy & France as Apple has violated its patent rights over 3D transmission.

‘Most expensive’ domain name www.Gay.xxx sold for $500,000 to porn company

The address Gay.xxx has been sold for $500,000 to a porn company, making it the most expensive domain name sold ever.

Previously, the most expensive domain name was sex.com, which sold for approx. 13 million dollars last year.

Websites with the extension .xxx have already been banned in India, & chances are there that other countries will also do the same. The .xxx extension is still not available to register publicly.

ICM Registry that controls the allocation & registration of .xxx addresses, is trying everything to avoid the misuse of .xxx extension. The have prepared a lost of 4,300 celebrities whose names will not allowed for use as .xxx addresses. This list includes Bradpitt.xxx, Britneyspears.xxx, etc.

India has 33,587,640 Facebook accounts

According to International Telecommunication Union’s report regarding ‘Measuring the Information Society’, India has 33,587,640 facebook accounts and ranked third after USA & Indonesia.
USA has 154,040,460 accounts followed by Indonesia with 39,658,620.
